Luc Devaux

Born in Madagascar in 1958, Mr. Luc Devaux is a French citizen having completed his university studies at The Paris Chamber of Commerce School (ESIEE-ESTE). He graduated in Electrical Engineering and began his early international career in the Middle East. He provided engineering services on a variety of projects such as installation and management of safety monitoring systems for international airport (Dhahran - Saudi Arabia) and oil industry (Iraq) or developing complete radio monitored surveillance systems for sewage and drinking water network (France), to name only two. In terms of Engineering and Management, Luc DEVAUX was, for seven years, the pride of the Saudi government as he has built and manage the biggest private fully monitored greenhouse project in Riyadh and was the first exporter of flowers and vegetables in middle East (1988-1995).

He joined id3 Semiconductors of Grenoble in 1995 as this R&D laboratory began development of a new and innovative line of hardware and software biometric products. Id3 semiconductors introduced in 1999 the first full in card matching solution in the world. Mr. Luc DEVAUX worked his way into the business development side of operations and eventually took over as CEO of ORCANTHUS, a product spin-off of the id3 Semiconductors research group. The aim was to promote a new biometrics approach for all human which preserve the privacy, the private property and the human rights.

Before recent projects now beginning in Europe and North America in health, banking, Orcanthus pioneered biometric projects in Retail in Saudi Arabia, in Banking in West Africa and large scale Time and Attendance in South Africa. ORCANTHUS boasts the world's only TRUE and FULL 'match-on-smartcard' solution as ORCANTHUS management team believes that biometrics has to comply to the respect of human rights and private property.

In recent years RFID Electronic ICAO compliant passport readers from id3/Orcanthus have been added to the product list. In the spirit of the biometrics, the RFID e-passport readers are built with incomparable high performances.

Mr. Luc Devaux is regularly a guest speaker at security conferences and presentations all over the world (latest : June 2006 - ACT Canada / Toronto / Ottawa). He is married, has two children and lives in Alsace (France).
